Start on a Path to a Healthier You

Are you considering bariatric surgery or exploring ways to support your weight loss goals? As a health service psychologist with 15+ years working with bariatric clients, I understand the critical role that our thoughts, feelings, and daily habits can have on weight loss and health goals. Here at Connected Counseling & Wellness, I offer specialized bariatric behavioral health services that are designed to empower you through every step of this life-changing process. It is my goal to ensure that you are not only prepared for your bariatric surgery, but also fully supported with all you need to succeed in the transformative journey that follows.

Step 1: Intake Visit

We will meet to discuss your concerns and goals for surgery, and begin the assessment process. When you arrive, we will start by reviewing the evaluation process, so you know exactly what to expect. Then I will talk with you some more and ask some questions so that I can understand your unique history, as it relates to your goals for surgery. This process takes approximately 1 hour.

Step 2: Further Testing

You will completed some various tasks and surveys that are specifically selected to help us anticipate how you might think, feel, and act through the surgical process and the lifestyle changes that follow. This testing is an efficient and effective way to gather lots of useful information to help us know you better. Usually, this portion of the evaluation is completed in under 2 hours. However, testing time can vary depending on the client.

Step 3: Feedback & Treatment Planning

After testing is completed and scored, we will sit down together and review findings and recommendations. This process is collaborative, and I often encourage clients to bring along a loved one for additional support in their planning (e.g., planning for care during post-surgical recovery, etc.). This part of the process may also be therapeutic, as clients commonly uncover useful new insights about themselves, with greater clarity about how they may effectively reach their goals moving forward. At the conclusion of this experience, my clients often remark that this was very information very helpful to them, as they feel walk away feeling more empowered to reach their goals with surgery and beyond.
